A warm welcome to Ynys Hywel Learning Community!

I am delighted to welcome you to our new purpose-built school. Our school was created to educate the amazing young people who reside full time in our homes at Positif Care.

Our school community cares for the individual as a whole ensuring they feel safe and valued. We promote positive relationships and lead by example. We reinforce that in spite of any past difficulties, our young people can still thrive and we endeavour to instil in all our young people the desire to achieve and to succeed. With our care, support and guidance, we firmly believe our young people can accomplish anything.

Our aims and values underpin everything we do here at Ynys Hywel.

  • Provide our young people with a safe, nurturing and consistent learning environment where they feel valued and can build a positive sense of self.
  • Foster positive and trusting relationships through appropriate use of language and to always lead by example.
  • Educate our young people about effective coping strategies with a view to improving their resilience.
  • Develop our young people holistically and prepare them for the challenges of adult life.
  • Encourage our young people to engage in learning experiences to build their behavioural, social, emotional and ultimately academic skills for a successful future.
  • Encourage our young people to become more curious, compassionate and empathetic learners through a range of relevant learning experiences and worthwhile qualifications.
